Living in Washington, we are surrounded by rivers, lakes and the sea. Knowing how to swim is an important survival skill everyone should feel confident about. Deep Blue was founded with the goal of helping everyone from infants to adults build these important skills and have positive aquatic experiences.
I especially enjoy helping anyone who has not had success in more generic program. I will meet swimmers where they are comfortable and teach from there. With the consistency of the same instructor for session after session we can build trust and find wonderful success together.
My name is Katie, I have been teaching swim since 2006. From scuba diving to wake surfing, water has brought so much joy into my life. It is my goal to help you build the confidence you need to have safe and joyful experiences in the water too.
This is a backyard program located in North Bothell near Tambark Creek Park. I currently teach only Wednesdays and Thursdays during the day.
This is a learn to swim program that begins at one year old and continues on through to adult learners. Once a swimmer is proficient in all the strokes, they will graduate out to find a larger pool to further build stamina.
Four students per class. Private lessons are offered only as instructor sees necessary.
Lessons are 30 minutes, once a week. Initial commitment is for a full session (8-10 weeks)
Learning to enjoy the water, diving for toys, jumping in safely and returning to the poolside. Practice self rescue.
Swimming the width of the pool independently.
Swimming the length of the pool independently, familiar with all five strokes.
Building stamina for lap swimming and refining all five strokes.
Graduating to a swim team to solidify knowledge.
“Katie is an expert at building trust with our kids and helping them challenge themselves during lessons. Our kids had lots of different hold-ups with regards to swimming like going under water, back floats or jumping off the side. Katie helped them move beyond whatever fears they had and make major improvements from week to week.”
Katie took my 3 kids of wildly different ages and swimming abilities, two with ADHD and the 3rd on the autism spectrum, and managed to get them all swimming in the same pool at the same time for lessons. It was mind blowing to me how easy she made the complexity of that look! The kids liked her, felt respected by her and were always eager to go to lessons and do their best to make her proud. I was surprised that so much progress could be made in only 30 minutes a week.
We are so grateful for her for skill, patience and humor, all of which were tested the the process of getting them comfortable and safe in the water. Katie is a stellar human being and I would recommend her classes without hesitation!
Our family is so thankful for Deep Blue Swim. My 2 older girls graduated a swim program a couple of years ago but they needed a refresher and some swim safety reminders. Our little one needed additional help catching up to her older sisters and she thrived learning from Katie. All girls are confident swimmers and most importantly, they love the sport! We can’t wait to be back next summer.
